Abstract Helen Clay Frick (1888-1984), daughter of industrialist and art collector Henry Clay Frick, had a lifelong interest in art history, particularly in the French sculptor Jean Antoine Houdon (1741-1828). This resulted in nearly 50 years of research, for which she enlisted Frick Art Reference Library staff members as well as outside consultants in her work. Helen Clay Frick, daughter of industrialist and art collector Henry Clay Frick, founded the Frick Art Museum in Pittsburgh in 1970. These files document construction of the museum building, and events, publications, and programming during the early years of the institution.

Helen Clay Frick (1888-1984), daughter of industrialist and art collector Henry Clay Frick, helped to establish the Fine Arts Department at the University of Pittsburgh in the 1920s, and was a major contributor to the Department through the mid-1960s. These files, including correspondence, printed material, notes, photographs, exhibition files, and architectural drawings, document Helen Clay Frick's support of the Department and her relationship with the University.
