Scope and Contents note

In 1932, art student Julia D. Snow suggested that King could have painted several portraits that were attributed to Ellsworth. Mitchell did not support this idea and rebuked it in an article in Art in America, Autumn 1953. The folder contains correspondence re biographical information on King.

Correspondents include Art in America, Julia Brown Carpenter (daughter of Josiah B. King), Lamson & Goodnow Mfg. Co., and Juliette Tomlinson of the Connecticut Valley Historical Museum.
