Scope and Contents
This series contains photographs of window displays, gallery rooms, and exhibitions designed by Rosamond Fulmer for Hammer Galleries dating from 1937-1945. Exhibitions of note include the Washingtonia exhibition for the 1939 World’s Fair and the sale of the William Randolph Hearst collection at Gimbels Department Store in 1941 both featuring artworks from Hammer Galleries. 56 photographs were removed from their original housing within a leather binder and 177 photographs and labels were removed from a photograph album for preservation purposes.
Suse Byk is the photographer of many of the window displays. John Towse is the photographer of the World’s Fair exhibition.
