Scope and Contents

This album contains the earliest known interior photographs of One East 70th Street, as photographed by Ira W. Martin in 1927, eight years after Henry Clay Frick's death. These images capture most of the rooms on the first and second floors of the house, but exclude rooms on the third floor and in the basement. The appearance of Frick's art collection in these photographs is generally agreed to reflect the arrangement of these objects during his lifetime.

Images of members of the Frick family at the back of the album date from celebrations marking the twentieth anniversary of The Frick Collection in 1955.
