Series I: Contracts and Orders, 1933-1936
Scope and Contents note
The series is divided into two subseries - Subseries 1: Subcontractors, and Subseries 2: Miscellaneous. The files of Subseries 1: Subcontractors span from 1933 to 1936 and are arranged alphabetically by the company name of the subcontractor and chronologically therein. The original order was retained. Found here are subcontractors' contracts and work orders issued by the general contractor, Marc Eidlitz & Son, and charged to "Billing Account A." These records detail terms of the contract and work to be performed. A brief description of the work performed by each subcontractor is provided in the container list. Subseries 2: Miscellaneous spans from 1933 to 1937 and is arranged alphabetically by folder title. These records include additional contracts and work orders filed under separate billing accounts, bids for subcontract work, certificates of inspection, extra orders, and receipts for materials. Two folders titled Architect's Contract and Builder's Contract contain only a note, dated 1937, stating that the respective contracts were placed in the safe. Of interest in this series are the work orders for each subcontractor, which provide a description of the work to be completed, overall cost, and assigned billing account. In Series III: Bills, Receipts and Vouchers, a more detailed account of work expenses and supplies can be found by examining the bills received from each subcontractor or supplier. Additionally, a list of subcontractors and suppliers found in Series III, including a brief description of work performed or materials supplied, can be found in the Appendix.
