Series II: Artist Files, 1950-1998

 Series

Scope and Content Note

Relating to research on individual artists, primarily Italian baroque. Files directly related to Caravaggio are included in Series III: Caravaggio Research Files, but several Caravaggio followers are listed in this series. Materials mostly consist of photographs of works and notes for Moir's research. Other materials include offprints and copies of academic articles and correspondence with academics and museum professionals discussing photographs, attributions, exhibitions, and publications. Files may also contain exhibition ephemera, drafts of Moir's works for publication, and copies of loan agreements for works of art (particularly for the exhibition Art in Italy 1600-1700 at the Detroit Institute of Arts in 1965).

Files vary in depth, from a single photograph or note, to multiple folders of materials. Arranged alphabetically by artist's last name.
