Frank W. Stokes annotation: "This Besnard supernaturally skillful and a fine colorist. His technique remarkable. On his last visit to New York I met him at reception on 57th St. in acad. building - where also was his gifted wife. He was well-bred - Ex Senator Clark and [ ] wife - there I chatted with them."
