Clayton and Woodrock (PS-6), circa 1893-1904

Album contains photographs collected over a range of about ten years. Most early images were taken at "Clayton" in Pittsburgh, Pa.; later images were taken at or around Prides Crossing, Mass., before the construction of "Eagle Rock" (1904-1906). Includes photos of Helen Clay Frick and Childs Frick with their nanny, Annie Stephany, and dog "Brownie"; Helen Clay Frick at Cluny, Scotland; Frick coachman James Elmore; interiors of Clayton; and Helen Clay Frick with childhood friends, such as Elizabeth Holmes, Eleanor Whitney, Natalie Bradley, Virginia Frew, Du Barry Childs, Elsie McClintock, Jeannette McClintock, Harold Clapp, Rankin Childs, Jim Childs, Kenneth Clapp, and Howard Childs. Later images depict Marika Ogiz, Childs Frick, Gifford Bakewell, Charles Knoedler, a shipboard scene on the "Oceanic," the house and grounds at "Woodrock," Henry Clay Frick, Adelaide H.C. Frick, Martha H. "Attie" Childs, Joseph Woodwell, and Frick chauffeur George Després. Turn-of-the-century automobiles, carriages, and cameras can be seen, along with games of tennis and croquet.
