Abstract

Eagle Rock, located in Prides Crossing, Mass., served as the summer residence of the Frick family from 1906 until its demolition in 1969. This collection contains correspondence, proposals, contracts, specifications, invoices, inventories, maps, photographs, and printed material documenting the construction and furnishing of the house, maintenance of the house and grounds, alterations, daily life, and the eventual demolition of the house.

Scope and Content Note The Frick Family Photograph Albums date from the 1880s to the 1970s, and include formal studio portraits, candid snapshots, souvenir photographs, and published images visually documenting members of the Frick family and their social circle. These images give information about the family's modes of dress, residences, hobbies and pastimes, pets, and travel throughout Europe and the United States, as well as Egypt, Mexico, and Cuba. Abstract

Henry Clay Frick (1849-1919) was a prominent industrialist and art collector. This collection consists of photographs, circa 1850s-1989 and undated, of Frick and his family, as well as images of their friends, relatives, and others. This collection also contains images of Frick family residences, travels both in the United States and abroad, and other locations associated with the family.
